Mrs. Bowin's Favorite Book

One of my favorite books has to be "The Westing Game" by Ellen Raskin. I really enjoy reading mysteries, and this is one that has a real twist at the end! The story includes many characters who have to work together to try to inherit a large sum of money. The person who can figure out all of the clues first is the winner, but what they have to figure out keeps all of the characters (and the reader) guessing until the very end! Another reason that I enjoyed this book is because it includes a variety of characters, from kids to elderly people, Chinese, black, and white people, married and single people, and people who have no job to those that have very high-paying jobs. It shows that your mind will do greater things for you than anything else in life.

Cordel's favorite book

My favorite book is Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. It's about 2 friends (a boy and a girl) that got separated because the boy went to Pretty Town and the girl stayed in Ugly Town. At age 16 you get an operation that turns you pretty so many of the kids run away from Ugly Town so they won't have to turn pretty.
This book taught me that is doesn't matter how people look, but how they care about each other.
I would recommend this book.

Brittany's favorite Book

My favorite book is Angels Watching Over Me by Lurlene McDaniel.
This book is about A 16 year old that has leukemia and she has to stay
in the hospital. After a while she got a roommate that got bit by a
brown spider. I think that other people should read this book. I learned
that if you believe in something it will happen. I liked this book because
it was a sad book.

TAYLOR FAVORITE BOOK

My favorite book is Jelly Belly. It's about this kid that is fat. His parents send him to this fat camp to try and make him not so fat and so he can get healthier. They promise to take him to a roller coaster park if he looses a lot of weight. He and his new bunk mates are so addicted to eating they go to the kitchen and steal food. After seeing his bunk mates could lose weight when they stopped eating he motivated to quit eating too. After he goes home that he looses weight.
This story taught me that if you put your mind to it you can do it.

Natasha's Favorite Book

My favorite book is the Spiderwick Chronicles series. I like them because they are mysterious and I have to figure them out. In one of the stories, they hear something rattling in the wall so Jared goes up stairs. I like these books and would recommend that everyone reads them.

Jenny's favorte book

My favorite book is Angels Above by Lurlene McDaniel. It is about a 16-year-old girl who has leukemia. Their is a little girl that got bit bye a spider and her name is Rebekah she is Alma's she is the 16 year old girls roommate. Rebekah has a Older Brother and sister her brothers name is Ethane and her sisters name is Charity. I like this book Be cause it is sad and happy at the same time.

Ty's Favorite Book

My favorite book is Tractors because it tells you loads of information. It has pictures of how to run
it and has pictures of parts of the tractors like the motor and other things.

Corinne's Favorite Book

My favorite book is Sisters Grim. It has fairy tales like the big bad wolf, the three little pig's, the talking mirror on the wall, giants, fairies, and flying carpets. I like this book because of the different kinds of creatures

Wade,My Favorite book

My favorite book is The Hardy-boys "What Happened At Midnight".I like it because of all the mystery's.
It is about a secret invention of Mr. Wright's,and it is a pocket radio that can communicate with spase shuttles
in a wild storm with no static.

Sage's favorite book

My favorite book is Lightning Thief. Because it was about gods and it has a son of Posiden his name was Percie. He had to go on a quest to retrieve a lightning bolt for Zuece which is another god.

Week 1

Good morning, 5th graders!
I enjoy reading in my spare time and read a lot of great books this summer. One of my favorite books is Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. it is about a boy whose family is too poor to own a dog. One day a stray dog shows up ( he's not really a stray, but owned by a mean man who lives nearby) and the boy tries to hide him near his house so his mean owner won't abuse him anymore. I think this story says a lot about how kids can make a difference in people's lives and about how important families are. Also, it shows how much an animal can help people.
I would like you to blog about your favorite book, including what lesson you learned from the book, and/or why you liked it.
