The children the the story, Philip Hall Likes Me, I Reckon Maybe, tease each other often. The boys tease Philip about liking girls. Philip teases Beth by telling her the bus is coming. Are there times when teasing is all right? When does it go too far? Did it go too far in this story?

I think that sometimes it does go to
far.Like the school bus trick.
I thought it was funny.Beth did not.I like when Philip confronts his best friend.

Philip goes a little bit too far
because he made Beth run and get
dirty on the first day of school
when the bus wasn't even coming.
No, I do not think that teasing is all right. It goes too far when you are being very mean to other people. Yes, I think that Pyilip went to far he was very mean to Beth every time.
No, I don't think teasing is ok. It can hurt people's feelings. You could get in trouble for teasing and you make somebody mad. Philip's teasing went too far because he was mean to Beth.

How you know that you've gone too far is you start being mean My opinion is that Philip did go too far because he tricked her when the bus was coming. Philip didn't sit with her and at the end of school after Beth saved him a spot in line and that hurt Beth's feelings.

I think that many times "teasing" and "joking" are used interchangeably. There is a real difference, though. I think that joking involves people who intend to not hurt each others feelings, but to simply have fun. However, joking can turn into teasing very quickly, as soon as feelings are hurt by either person (or people). When you do choose to joke around with someone, you need to make certain that you don't go too far.
I think teasing is sometimes a way to bully people around when it is meant to hurt others. We like to joke and tease in our family, but sometimes we hurt other's feelings. Knowing when to tease,and not going to far is a skill that we always need to be thinking about before engaging in teasing
